Insulation

        Loft Insulation

Pigeons on a roof can be an indication of a lack of insulation in the loft, which they take advantage of to keep warm.

  • Loft insulation captures heat, prevents draughts, and can be installed by laying mineral fibre between and over the joists.
  • A top-up is recommended if existing insulation is less than 100mm, up to the recommended level of 270mm.
  • If you need additional loft insulation, check that you don’t have existing insulation and that your current insulation is less than 100mm thick, which you can measure with a ruler or tape measure.
       External Wall Insulation

  • 35% of heat loss from UK homes is due to un-insulated external walls
  • External wall insulation is a layer of insulation fixed to an existing external wall, finished with render or cladding
  • Perfect for solid wall homes to improve exterior look and thermal rating, save £195-£650 annually on fuel bills
  • Improves weather proofing, sound resistance, reduces drafts and heat loss
  • Requires no internal work, minimal disruption
  • Increases lifespan of walls by protecting brickwork, but requires structurally sound walls before installation.

        Underfloor Insulation

Underfloor insulation can keep your property warm and prevent up to 15% heat loss from homes that are lost through the ground floor.

  • The ECO4 scheme offers free underfloor insulation, which can help save money and reduce your impact on the planet.
  • Underfloor insulation can help save up to £85 a year, depending on your property.
  • It can also reduce draughts, make your home warmer, and help reduce your carbon footprint by using less energy to heat your home.

        Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity wall insulation is crucial for preventing heat loss through walls. Without it, up to 35% of generated heat can escape, causing central heating systems to work harder.

Cavity walls have a gap between two layers of brick, with insulation being inserted into the cavity in modern homes but not in those built between 1924 and 1982.

Cavity wall insulation is available with a 25-year, insurance-backed guarantee.

        Internal Wall Insulation

  • Internal wall insulation is used to insulate solid wall properties by creating a thermal barrier between the inside of the home and the outdoors.
  • It reduces heat loss and can make the home more energy-efficient.
  • It works by fitting rigid insulation boards to the inside of walls or installing a stud wall filled with insulation material.
  • This type of insulation may slightly reduce the floor area of any room it is applied in.
